DONATIONS Starlings Volleyball Clubs, USA is a registered non-profit organization. It exists financially upon grants and charitable donations. In some cities, to cover the costs of operation, dues are charged to the participants. Corporate sponsorship for the Starlings program is available both on national and local levels. With clubs represented in many major cities from coast to coast, the national program offers wide geographic appeal to a sponsor. In terms of cause-related marketing, the Starlings program also provides a wonderful opportunity for a company looking to associate itself with a worthy, humanitarian project. Every June/July, Starlings Volleyball hosts a National Tournament in San Diego where over 1000 girls meet to compete for a four-day tournament. There are many sponsorship opportunities associated with this event. The involvement of nationally recognized volleyball sports figures at this event always garners significant local media exposure. Since each Starlings individual club is financially self-sustaining, local fundraising is required on an ongoing basis. Girls who want to attend the annual USAV Junior National Championships have to raise much of their own funding to pay for the trip¾ car washes, cookie sales, and serve-a-thons are activities many Starlings organize in order to play in the nationals. An excellent opportunity to sponsor a Starlings club¾ or single Starlings team¾ is available to small, local businesses. Logo and company identification on uniforms is one benefit to a sponsor as well as mention in local news media when possible.
